Orbit Commerce is a product concept created by Cordo Labs to illustrate our approach. It does not represent a client engagement, and the names and data shown are fictional.

The challenge

Why a system like this needs to exist.

As order volume grows, the gaps between commerce, inventory and fulfillment systems turn into daily manual work: overselling during launches, subscription renewals failing silently, and support teams switching between five tabs to answer a single question.

Orbit Commerce explores what a modern operations layer looks like for a growing direct-to-consumer brand running Shopify alongside a warehouse, a subscription program and a support desk. Instead of stitching those systems together with spreadsheets and one-off scripts, Orbit becomes the single place where orders, stock and subscribers stay in sync.

Our approach

How we'd approach it.

The principles that shape both the product and its architecture.

  1. 01

Map the flow of every order

Document how orders, stock and subscriptions move between systems today, and where data ownership is unclear.

  2. 02

    Event-driven synchronization

Webhooks and queues propagate every change within seconds, with retries and a complete audit trail.

  3. 03

    One operational view

A dashboard designed around the questions operators ask most — not around the underlying database tables.

  4. 04

    Automate the exceptions

Recurring manual fixes such as failed renewals, low stock and delayed shipments become automated workflows.

Key capabilities

What the platform does.

  • Real-time inventory sync

Stock levels reconciled across storefront, warehouse and marketplaces within seconds.

  • Subscription orchestration

Renewals, skips, swaps and payment recovery handled by configurable workflows.

  • Fulfillment routing

Orders routed to the right location based on stock, region and service level.

  • Operations dashboard

A live view of orders, exceptions and KPIs with drill-down to any individual order.

  • Customer timeline

Every order, subscription change and support interaction in one place.

  • Audit trail

A full history of every automated action for troubleshooting and trust.

Architecture

A system designed to scale.

A layered architecture that keeps responsibilities clear and every part replaceable as the product grows.

Designed outcomes

What it's built to deliver.

These describe what the system is designed to achieve, not measured results from a live deployment.

  • 01

    Real-time synchronization

Inventory and order data kept consistent across every connected system.

  • 02

    Automated subscription workflows

Renewal failures and plan changes resolved without manual intervention.

  • 03

    Centralized operations dashboard

One place for operators to see and act on what matters today.
